What is borosilicate glass?
Borosilicate glass is a particularly chemical- and temperature-resistant glass that is used in laboratory equipment, household items, and often in the to-go sector due to its positive properties.Borosilicate glass offers the following advantages:
Heat resistance:Borosilicate glass has a very high melting point and does not crack or melt under heat. It remains clear and robust even at extreme temperatures and temperature fluctuations. It only gives in to heat at temperatures exceeding 300°C, which are uncommon in households. Therefore, the glass is ideal for pouring hot liquids, for use in the oven, microwave, or freezer, as well as for cleaning in the dishwasher.
Lightweight and yet stable:
Despite its lightweight, borosilicate glass is very robust, stable, and highly resistant to shocks and cuts. It is not affected by frequent cleaning with hot water, and its surface remains unchanged, clear, and shiny.
Taste and odor neutrality:Borosilicate glass is free from harmful substances, tasteless, and does not absorb odors, flavors, or discoloration.
Borosilicate glass offers a more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional glass because it is fully recyclable and reusable after melting. Additionally, its heat resistance and resulting durability allow for multiple reuse, reducing waste and conserving vital resources.
Studies also confirm that borosilicate glass is ideal for use in the kitchen and handling of food. Due to its heat resistance, vessels made of borosilicate glass can be directly transferred from the freezer or refrigerator to the oven or microwave. Boiling with hot water or pouring hot liquids is also not a problem for borosilicate glass products.
It is dishwasher-safe, durable, and maintains its surface integrity, making it suitable for daily use in the kitchen.
